At Minnemeers you will find a remarkably restored factory building. It is the home of the Industry Museum, previously called MIAT. In this old spinning mill the industrial past of Ghent is brought to life!

Ghent has been a textile centre since the middle ages. Around 1800 Ghent becomes the most important industrial city of Flanders! In the Industry museum you will learn everything about the industrial revolution in Ghent, child labour, the consumer society, tinctorial plants, industrial espionage… Discover the evolution from worker to consumer, from misery to welfare and comfort and experience modern applications of textile. You also see old textile and printing machines in operation, quite impressive and deafening! As a nice bonus, on the fifth floor you will be rewarded with a magnificent view of Ghent.
