new The Citadel Park: chill in the green

A historic park with a present-day look

The Ghent folk have enjoyed the beautiful landscape Citadel Park for more than a century. It was laid out on the site of the old citadel. Take a walk with our guide in more than fifteen hectares of lush green landscape.

More about this tour

The Citadel Park is often called the Central Park of Ghent, and quite rightly. In this park in English landscape style you will find two beautiful water gardens, but also grottos and cascades, a rose garden, almost 800 impressive broad-leaved trees and many colourful flowerbeds. Wander along the wide alleys named after Ghent artists, architects and scientists, discover the intriguing statues and stop at the bandstand while listening to Viennese waltzes on your smartphone. Our guide will tell you all about the park and its future as a protected landscape.
